The Society welcomes papers from all areas of Economics, Economic Policy and Econometrics from academics and practitioners regardless of sector.
Paper submissions should be a full manuscript with 250 word abstract or an extended abstract of 750 words (max).

Deadline for submission of papers: Tuesday 3 November 2026.
Authors will be notified of the review outcome by Thursday 26 November 2026.
Papers whose presenting author hasn't registered by the deadline of Thursday 14January 2027 will not be included in the programme.
For the first time, the 2027 conference will include both oral and poster presentations. You can select your preferred presentation format during the submission process.
By submitting a paper you will be designated the corresponding author for that paper and all communications regarding the paper (submission, review, presentation etc.) will be sent to the email address you used to set up your account. It is your responsibility to communicate with any co-authors regarding your presentation.

A brief abstract (maximum 250 words) must be entered into the text box in the submission portal.
A document in the form of either a paper (2 pages plus an indicative bibliography, clearly stating purpose, methodology and findings) or a full manuscript, must be uploaded in PDF format.
Before uploading your PDF file please:
a) When naming your file please use the last name of the first author in the author list followed by the first name of the first author, with names separated with an underscore as your file name (e.g. Smith_Peter.pdf, Carradine_Sarah.pdf etc.).
b) Please carefully check your file for viruses, using the most current virus-checker, before uploading it to the paper submission portal.Please note: Complete papers will be given preference over extended abstracts.Hard copy submission (by email, post or by fax) will not be accepted and proposals which don’t comply with these instructions will be rejected.

The Scottish Economic Society awards a prize of £1000 for the best paper presented at its annual conference by an economist currently registered for a PhD or who has successfully completed a PhD between 2021 and 2026. Please note: All authors on the paper must have received their PhD in 2021 or later or be a PhD Student. To be considered for the prize you MUST select ‘Yes’ from the drop down box AND provide the PhD year for ALL authors.
Important: Presenting authors must register for the conference by the early closing date of Thursday 14 January 2027 (Registration will open on 3 November 2026).
Papers whose presenting author has not registered by the deadline of 14 January 2027 will not be included in the programme.
